Countdown Timer
A countdown timer two ways: set a duration (10:00) with start / pause / reset, a progress ring and an alarm when it hits zero — or count down to a date and time with a live days / hours / minutes / seconds display. Fullscreen, with the time in the tab title.
How to Use
- Timer mode: set hours / minutes / seconds (or tap a preset), then Start. Pause, resume, reset, or add a minute any time. When it reaches zero an alarm sounds and the screen flashes.
- Count down to a date mode: pick a target date and time (and an optional label) to see a live days / hours / minutes / seconds countdown to it.
- The remaining time shows in the browser tab title, so you can switch away and still keep an eye on it.
- Hit Fullscreen for a big, distraction-free display — handy for classrooms, workouts, presentations and cooking.
- Everything runs locally in your browser; allow notifications if you want a pop-up when the timer finishes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between the two modes?
Timer counts down a duration you set (like a 25-minute focus session or a 3-minute egg) and rings when it's done — start, pause and reset like a stopwatch. Count down to a date counts the time remaining until a specific moment in the future (a launch, a birthday, a deadline) and just keeps ticking.
Will it still count down if I switch tabs?
Yes. The remaining time is shown in the tab title, and the countdown is computed from a fixed end time, so it stays accurate even if the tab is in the background. The alarm and flash fire when you return to the tab (browsers may throttle background timers and audio, so come back to the tab to hear it).
Does the alarm need sound permission?
The beep uses the Web Audio API, which most browsers allow once you've interacted with the page (pressing Start counts). If you also want a desktop pop-up, allow notifications when prompted — but the on-screen flash and “Time's up!” banner work regardless.
What time zone is the date countdown in?
Your own. The date-and-time picker uses your device's local time zone, so “midnight on the 1st” means midnight where you are. The target time is shown in full so you can double-check it.
Can I use this as a Pomodoro or workout timer?
Absolutely — set 25 minutes for a Pomodoro focus block, or use the presets for intervals. Fullscreen makes it readable across a room, and the alarm tells you when to switch. For repeated intervals just hit Reset and Start again.
How do I use the Countdown Timer?
Just type your numbers. The answer shows up right away — there is no button to press. Change anything and it updates by itself.
Do I need to install or sign up for anything?
Not at all — it runs in the browser with nothing to install and no account. After it loads once, it even works without an internet connection.
Is my information private?
Yes. Everything happens in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server or saved anywhere.
