How to Use

- Choose how to enter scores: <strong>Percent</strong> (type each category average), or <strong>Points</strong> (type points earned and points possible, and the % is computed for you).

Frequently Asked Questions
How is a weighted grade calculated?
Multiply each category's score by its weight, add those up, and divide by the total weight: grade = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ weight. So Tests at 82% worth 35% contribute 82 × 35 = 2,870 points toward the numerator. Dividing by the total weight normalises the result, so it works even if your weights don't quite add to 100.
What's the difference between Percent and Points mode?
<strong>Percent</strong> mode is for when you already know each category's average (e.g. “my homework average is 90%”). <strong>Points</strong> mode is for raw scores — enter points earned and points possible (say 270 out of 300) and it converts to a percentage automatically. Both feed the same weighted-grade formula.
My weights don't add up to 100% — is that a problem?
Only if you expect a final grade. If you've entered every category, the weights should total 100%. If you've only entered some (say the work done so far), the tool still gives the weighted average of what's entered and flags that the total isn't 100% — and the target feature tells you what the remaining weight needs to average.
How do I find what I need on the final?
Enter the categories you've completed with their weights, leave the final out (or enter it at 0), set your <strong>target grade</strong>, and read “need on remaining %”. What letter grade does each percentage get?
The common scale with +/−: 93–100 A, 90–92 A−, 87–89 B+, 83–86 B, 80–82 B−, and so on down to F below 60. Schools vary on the exact cut-offs (some use a flat 90/80/70/60), so treat the percentage as the source of truth.
