Intake Plenum Volume Calculator
Size a plenum for NA, turbo, or supercharged engines — balances throttle response against pressure stability.
How to Use
- Enter displacement and pick induction type.
- Tool returns a low/target/high volume window.

Rules of thumb
NA race
V_pl ≈ 0.5-0.7 × V_displacement
NA street
V_pl ≈ 0.8-1.2 × V_displacement
Turbo
V_pl ≈ 1.5-2.5 × V_displacement
Roots / TVS super
V_pl ≈ 1.2-1.8 × V_displacement
Frequently Asked Questions
Too small plenum?
Starves outer cylinders at high RPM; charge pulses from adjacent cylinders interfere.
Too large plenum?
NA: laggy throttle response, off-idle bog. Turbo: slower boost rise, more lag.
Ratios?
NA race: 0.5-0.7×. Street NA: 0.8-1.2×. Turbo: 1.5-2.5× (pressure stability outweighs lag).
Common Use Cases
Sheet-metal intake design
Specify plenum box dimensions before fab.
Turbo charge pipe mock-up
Validate enough plenum between throttle body and runners.
